Every Place Your Soul Treads

In ways I never deserved
You’ve carried me in this place
That feels full of godless people
Devoid of grace
Vandalized by a culture
Of slander and pride:
Warmthless, merciless, truthless-
Moral cowardice draped in lies.
The squirming maggots of sin
Blinding every eye.

If it be to my will,
Help me forgive
Then shake off the dust.
But You Are, thus I live;
Let Your river obediently run.
Take me within Your tide.
Not my will, my God, but Yours be done.
Keep me close beside.
By their self-righteous hands, I died.

In Your love, I forever hide.

Remember the promises You made
To Your humble maid.

Fast or Famine

I waited…

To eat.
To breathe.
For my inner fractals
Frozen as they grieved
To repeat
To complete
The pattern I believe
Echoes impactful
From first conceived
Cycles indiscrete

Inescapably fated.

One God

Father, You are faithful
Beyond all men
Beyond the lies, the ambitions,
The gnashing agendas

Beyond our sin

In which we die and kill
You have made it possible to save.
Only by Your sacrifice, Your gift
We live; we have no other way-

No road to life but the One You paved.

Sea Anonymity

I have ingested the ocean.

My strandline roam
In stormy yearn:
The froth and foam,
The salt-licked churn,
Into the deep, I dip and sink
Chopping indestructible waves
Crash and crest I drink
Until the unfurling hand saves

Rolling me to sand-
Jagged grains of glass.

I have ingested the ocean.

Breathing in the brackish mist
Spittle from her banshee wails
Ebbless fervor, fury-kissed
She shreds the thin, assumptive sails
Of poor sailors trapped in windpressed wake.
Into this, her heart, I scream.
I release the tempest I cannot slake.
She swallows sound- folding my laments in silent seams.

Quiet my voice within her rage!
Stifled in the wild sea-

I have ingested the ocean;
She has ingested me.

Isaiah 40:8 NASB1995

The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever.

A Little Prayer

God found me in every church.
How I desire we could respect traditions,
But be not bound by them,
Nor divided by them.
Put off the arguments of the non-essentials,
Immersing ourselves in the fathomless depths
Of His love for our unity
Lavished on each individual soul.
Allow each to obey as they understand,
But remain whole.

Brothers who may live in different ways,
But join as one in endless praise

Of their One Heavenly Father.
